Student Support
HPMS provides on-site access to a wide range of support services for our students and families, including:
Student & Family Counseling
Our school social worker utilizes theories of human behavior and development to support students within the school setting and works with families on any learning, behavior, and/or emotional concerns in order to strengthen the home, school, and community partnership. Parents are also invited to attend and participate in regularly scheduled parent education events with nationally acclaimed speakers who are experts in all areas of education and child psychology.
Advanced Therapy of America (Speech & Occupational Therapy, Social Skills)
Advanced Therapy of America (ATA) is a specialized center offering innovative treatments to enhance child development, sensory processing, feeding, speech, language, socialization and cognition. The program is family-centered and uses a “Whole Brain Approach” to guide diagnostics and interventions. The ATA team holds numerous post-graduate certifications allowing children to have access to the most sophisticated treatments available. Currently, ATA is providing support to students at Hamilton Park Montessori School both within the classroom and in a 1:1 setting.
Jersey City Board of Education
Jersey City honors its obligation to offer speech and special instruction services to district students who qualify, including those attending nonpublic schools.
If HPMS families agree that their child may benefit from an evaluation for speech or special instruction, teachers, parents and the school nurse complete forms, which are then forwarded from the school to the Jersey City Board of Education. Once all paperwork is received, a child study team is assigned to evaluate need and eligibility for services.
